Built for Builders

"The Hot Tot 200,000 fulfils a need that's long existed in the construction heating industry," says Schwank President George Horich. "It is not only our largest infra-red construction heater, but also the first to offer two-stage operation – high fire for quick warm up and low fire to maintain temperature."

The 200,000 BTU Hot Tot has all the features that have made the 90,000 BTU Hot Tot a favorite with builders across Canada:

  • Energy savings of up to 60%, compared to forced air construction heaters
  • Dry heat, which leads to reduced drying time and a corresponding saving in fuel
  • No special certification or training, a mandatory step with conventional large construction heaters.
  • Hydro is not required
  • Weighing in at only 50 lbs., the 200,000 BTU Hot Tot is highly portable
  • A more comfortable and productive working environment, thanks to the moderate air temperature (about 65 degrees), quiet operation and low emissions
  • Even, 360 heat coverage
  • Safety switch that automatically shuts off the heater in the event of a tip over

Builders and their employees will also welcome the elimination of the drawbacks that plague competing “salamander type” forced air heaters, a technology that is now over a half century old:

  • To contain the hot air, every door and window needs to be covered, a step that costs time and money
  • Over 100 hours of training is required to operate a 400,000 BTU forced air heater
  • Electrical connections are mandatory
  • Hot air rises, which is fine for the ceiling, but not suitable for walls and floors
  • High emissions, which give workers headaches

Bernie Torchia of Mattamy Homes in Oakville, Ontario, says the Schwank Construction Heater used 30% less propane than competing products, and improved drywall turnaround time "dramatically", as condensation was significantly lower.

In addition, the Schwank Construction Heater allowed Mattamy to pour basement floors "in record time" and it helped shorten set-up time.
